September 2019 Newsletter + Track Meetings
Time to Reboot & Get Back to Business
Unbelievable as it seems, summer is over as far as most of us are concerned. Even though fall doesn’t officially begin until September 21, most of us move into “fall mode” after Labor Day.
If you read last month’s newsletter, you know I took a month long “sabbatical” away from everything in upstate New York during July. August has been a time to bring home the things I learned from that trip and put them into practice. And September gives me an opportunity to fully reboot my system and create a new path for myself. I encourage you to look at your life with new eyes, at least every quarter of the year, and reassess, regroup and literally, reboot yourself.
When I did a lot of business consulting, I encouraged companies to maintain a system of quarterly meetings with their employees. This was a way to keep up with changing trends both in their industries and among their own people. I still believe whether in business or not, reinventing ourselves, to some degree, every three months keeps us renewed, alive and more able to be fully present.
For me, it means rethinking my role with Great Girls Network and enlisting the help of more people as we grow. We have Loretta Nixon and Shontelle Mixon working on launching a Chicago chapter of GGN. And we also have Kara Bolwell working on starting an Austin group. The vision of GGN expanding into the world is starting to express itself!
That means I want to be available to help these groups get going. It also means that more women will be publicly identified as leaders of GGN, which has been my dream all along! Alida Leykauf is stepping up to be more involved with running our organization as our so we can continue to grow organically and begin to operate as a separate entity from my PeopleBiz company. This is very exciting to me, and I hope serves our community well.
Starting this fall, Alida will do more communicating with our members and take over the monthly publication of the newsletter. I will still be very involved and contribute each month, at least for the near future.
We will also enlist some of our Members to start doing our Track meetings each month, to free up my time for traveling. Our first volunteer to help is Tate Ringer (also known as Kathryn) and we will post the new location on our calendar as that develops. I will keep doing some Track meetings, however, we would love to know if you are interested in contributing your time and energy to that endeavor.
Warmest regards,
Margery Miller, Founder GGN
Summer Gathering
Our Summer Gathering was a smashing success, full of energy and enthusiasm. Our guest speaker, Lupe Valdez , was not able to join us in person due to a critical foot infection, however, we are thrilled that she joined us virtually through Walkabout Workplace courtesy of Toni Portmann. She has graciously accepted our invitation to join us in person at our Fall Gathering on November 13, so if you weren’t able to be there in August, you can meet her then!

Great Girls Network is our way of being the opposite of the Good Ol’ Boys Network (which is still very much alive and well!). Even if you don’t go to Track meetings, your membership gives you a way to support our existence and be a part of a growing group of women who really appreciate each other. And the Semi-Annual Gatherings are unlike any other “networking” event! We know women don’t network like men. We want to build relationships, we want deeper, more meaningful connections. That is exactly what GGN provides.
We created a digital card that helps people understand what they can get from joining GGN so click here to see the card.
Your membership helps give us that foundation, the strength to grow and have an impact on the lives of so many more women.

Our membership fee of $50 per year gives you access to our Track Meetings and also contributions to our Newsletter. The fee helps sustain our website, but it also ensures that when you participate in a Track meeting, you will honor the sacredness of the conversations because you are a member.
