GGN Member Pam Hoffmann shares her story about her and her husband Phil’s thriving homebuilding business
———-
Did you know that we live in a city that had no reason to be in the beginning?
There was no port or no water here in 1800s and most cities required that to grow and create trade.
But what Dallas did have was a type of energy and fiery spirit that was a perfect place for entrepreneurs. Nieman Marcus found inspiration here. Also, artists came. I came here in the late 70’s to study at the Dallas Theater Center through Trinity University. My husband Alan came at the same time from Detroit as a musician who wanted to be a playwright. We both studied at the Dallas Theater Center with Dr. Paul Baker who taught us how to be self-reliant, to figure it out and be creative in every aspect of our lives.
So, we created our lives here out of nothing but our own spirit and the fire of this place and following Alan’s mission of building homes that would be sustainable and that tornadoes could not blow down. So, we have been building homes exclusively with Insulated Concrete Wall forms for 29 years. That’s only one small part of what makes the homes we build Green.
This week we were honored with the 16th consecutive D Home Magazine “Best Builder” award for Hoffmann Homes. Our company built the first LEED certified home in Dallas and the first LEED Platinum home in Dallas. We now employ our daughter Alison and son-in- law Charles so we are a family business, all in this together.
It has been a tough journey and building homes is not for the faint of heart. When we started, we were not part of the Dallas establishment at all. Alan was a lone wolf, from Michigan of all places and only had a dream of how a how a home should be built but was not actually builder. He just got to work and figured it out. No one thought what he was doing would work in 1994. We are still one of only a few who build the way we do. But we have withstood every single economic downturn and grew.
We are unique also because at the same time we started our homebuilding business we started from the ground up a Health and Wellness business that was in some ways an easier journey and is also aligned with our mission of making the planet a better place to live. And it is this business that created a passive income stream for us allowing us to ride the downturns. It is a business that we grew 33% in 2009-2010 which mitigated the downside of home building at the time.
Our Health and Wellness business is one we can teach others to do. It gives us the opportunity to give back. We can share from our business experience with someone right out of college or someone who wants to change careers, or someone who wants a side business after retirement how to get started in the wellness industry. Unlike homebuilding you can live and work this business from anywhere in the world on your own terms.
According to the Global Wellness institute, Health and Wellness was valued at 4.4 trillion in 2020 and is projected to grow 9.9 % annually, predicted to reach nearly $7.0 trillion in 2025.
We are entrepreneurs and we love sharing with other entrepreneurs. If you would like to know more about our Health and Wellness business and how we teach, and train entrepreneurs just reach out and we can schedule a 15 minute discovery call, Contact Pam pamslifestyle.com or 214-763-3688 to set up the call.
If you are interested in one of our spec homes or you are building a custom home and would like to know more about how we build, go to www.hoffmannhomes.com and check us out!
GGN Member Ann Ranson shares more of her story….
It’s a beautiful thing when your work and play overlap. On a smaller scale that happens to me a lot because I love what I do. But recently I had a chance to do two of my favorite things, facilitate the Transformation Game and listen to the nearby ocean.
I’m a partner in ShiftCo, a conscious business growth platform. They held their first Symposium in Cancun in April, and I jumped at the chance to register. Like many of you, I haven’t travelled much in the past few years, so this was a business blessing! Then when I was given the chance to facilitate a demonstration of The Transformation Game, I double-knew it would be a fabulous trip.
For me, the trip and Game facilitation showed me another way that I can ‘live life with joy and ease’.
That was my intention when I played my annual Game with friends in 2016. At the time I was in terrible financial shape, so setting this intention seemed completely out of alignment with my circumstances. But one of the benefits of the Game is that it shows us what we believe. I wanted to confront and grow through the difficulties, and I needed to understand what beliefs were contributors. While I don’t remember specific insights I gained, I soon after decided to run a crowdfunding campaign so I could travel to Findhorn Scotland to train to become an Accredited Advanced Transformation Game Facilitator.
The campaign was a success, raising just a few dollars more than I needed – thank you God! The training was fabulous, and I graduated, though not all did.
Importantly, the lesson was one of trust, and allowing myself to open to bigger and better possibilities. Playing the Game gave me the courage to step out of my comfort zone. The trip to Cancun helped confirm the connection between our professional and personal lives. They are inseparable.
I’m so grateful to serve people holistically, meeting them where they are on their life’s journey.

Track Meetings
We still ask for $5 to cover costs. And yes, you can register at the last minute…. but it would be GREAT if you let us know a couple of days before so we can plan our refreshments!!!
Our Track meetings are designed to give us a sacred space to have meaningful, purposeful conversations without fear of being judged or competed with. Only Members can attend. They are amazing experiences, unlike any ‘networking meeting’ you have ever attended!
GGN members MUST REGISTER to attend these meetings, so just follow the links below! And if you want to learn about us, go ahead and join GGN~~if you decide it isn’t for you, we will refund your membership fee!
Currently we meet the 2nd Monday morning and 3rd Wednesday evening of each month (see below).
Each one is an event or happening in itself. Some members come frequently, some come only once in a while. Whenever you attend one, you will find out things you didn’t know, connect with women who will challenge and inspire you, and you will leave with some new perspectives.

Become a Member!
Great Girls Network is our way of being the opposite of the Good Ol’ Boys Network (which is still very much alive and well!). Even if you don’t participate in Track meetings, your membership gives you a way to support our existence and be a part of a growing group of women who really appreciate each other. And the Trii-Annual Gatherings are unlike any other “networking” event! We know women don’t network like men. We want to build relationships, we want deeper, more meaningful connections. That is exactly what GGN provides.
Our membership fee of $50 per year gives you access to our Track Meetings and also contributions to our Newsletter. The fee helps sustain our website, but it also ensures that when you participate in a Track meeting, you will honor the sacredness of the conversations because you are a member.
We created a digital card that helps people understand what they can get from joining GGN so click here to see the card.
Your membership helps give us that foundation, the strength to grow and have an impact on the lives of so many more women.
Great Girls Are Amazing Women!!! Thank You!!!
